It is well known that the active galactic nuclei (AGN) manifest only a
phase in the life-span of a galaxy. Radio galaxies, a sub-class of AGN,  
displaying large-scale radio emission associated with jets are key in
understanding the remnant phase when their jets switch off. Surprisingly,
remnant radio galaxies (RRGs) have been evasive in shallow radio surveys
of previous generations. Deep low-frequency radio surveys are ideally
suited to detect remnants, as these sources appear relatively brighter at
low-frequencies due to the curvature in their radio spectrum. Using
sensitive low-frequency radio surveys we attempt to obtain statistical
information and the fraction of radio galaxies in the remnant phase. In
this talk I shall discuss the implications of RRGs in the evolutionary
models and the role of recent as well as future deep field surveys.
