Abstract

We present a detailed multi-wavelength study of GRB 200524A which was triggered by Fermi Gamma-Ray Burst Monitor (GBM). High energy emission in the prompt regime was also detected with Fermi  Large area telescope (LAT), Integral, and AstroSat.  The high energy light curves indicate GRB 200524A to be a single pulse GRB with no precursor emission. Time-resolved spectral analysis with Fermi GBM exhibits a behavior similar to intensity tracking.  Following the prompt emission, the afterglow emission was detected in optical bands with several telescopes including 0.7m Growth India Telescope (GIT), 1.3m Devasthal Fast Optical Telescope (DFOT), and 3.6m Devasthal Optical Telescope (DOT). The afterglow spectrum results in a redshift estimate of ~1.256 for the burst. Up to very deep limits, the host galaxy of GRB 200524A was not detected. The optical light curves are consistent with a double power-law displaying two different temporal slopes with a break time around 1 day. The multi-wavelength data is well fitted with a Reverse-Forward shock model. The early afterglow is dominated by reverse shock emission. The magnetisation parameter ($R_B \sim$ 1.38) suggests partially magnetized jet composition for GRB 200524A.
